Vera Wang Draped Long Gown
I previously told you all about an upcoming wedding where I will be a bridesmaid, again. The bride-to-be took me along as she narrowed down her wedding gown. I know she has always dreamed of wearing Vera Wang, the wedding gown guru, on her wedding day. She narrowed it down to two. If her fiance’ is reading this and looking at the pics then I just brought them bad luck. Sorry!! However, since this blog doesn’t have ESPN on the title, then I think I’m okay.

Vera Wang Silver Satin Lace-Up Back Mermaid Gown
Anyway, her first pick is a beautiful Vera Wang draped gown. It almost has a Grecian goddess look to it. The gown looked absolutely amazing on her. Her second pick, also Vera Wang, is a lace-up back mermaid gown. She’s going for more contemporary in her gown. The color is a bit more silver then white, but hey, in today’s age how many of us deserve to wear white on her wedding day?? Just kidding Amy!! The pic does look more like a bridesmaid dress, but on Amy it was total bride!

Badgley Mischka Strapless Taffeta Mermaid Bridesmaid Gown
Amy did throw me for a loop on the bridesmaid dresses. Originally the choice was up to the girls to decide. Well Amy saw a dress on line and fell in love with it. Damn the internet!! Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not ungrateful to be in her wedding party. The exciting news is it’s a Badgley Mischka dress, the downer news for me is its strapless. Those of you that have seen me in person understand my dilemma. The other girls have cleavage to spare, I on the otherhand can me mistaken for a boy. I’m going to have to find the biggest push-up and padded bra that has ever been made! I’m also on the hunt for that sticky spray so I can lather up my whole upper body!! Nice thought, I know!

Vera Wang Sable Satin Sash Detail Gown

So I’ve been asked, once again, to be a bridesmaid for a very quick upcoming wedding (no it’s not shotgun!). The bride is a very good friend of mine so she won’t mind me saying this. I’m glad its soon, otherwise us bridesmaids would have to be forced to wear those god-awful made from pattern bridesmaid dresses that everyone snickers when they see it on you. I have too many of those in my closet to even count. I was thinking about dressing up as the bridesmaid from hell in one of those dresses for this Halloween.
Anyway, the bride (and this is why I love her) has left the choice of bridesmaid dresses up to us. It has to be a unanimous choice but the choices are designer dresses!! The options are from two different Vera Wang gowns, a Mary L. Couture dress and a gorgeous Marchesa gown. All of them are quite stunning. And these are gowns that I could wear again to another fancy soiree.

Vera Wang Lavender Jewelled Neck Dress
I was leaning more towards the Vera Wang Sable Satin gown because of it’s elegance. Another bridesmaid is pushing towards the Vera Wang Jewelled Neck Dress mainly because she has an awesome tan and killer legs…she likes to show them off and I really can’t blame her! I’m digging the Mary L. Couture gown, however I’d be a little nervous about not “keeping up” with it, if you know what I mean. The Marchesa gown is something you’d see on a red carpet, so it definitely has the majority vote right now. Anyway, as you can see it’s going to be a tough vote, but any choice we make, it’ll look awesome. Give me your thoughts on which dress to choose.

Adrianna Papell Embroidered Dress & Jacket
I can honestly say that at all the weddings that I have been to, I always find the bride to be breathtaking. The beautiful wedding gown, the polished, elegant look, almost makes me want to be a bride, almost. It never fails, as the bride walks down the aisle, I always turn to see the mother of the bride, full of pride, full of tears. Sometimes I well up also, but mostly my inner fashion demon takes over and I think, “huh, she probably should of worn a different dress”. For some reason it seems to have been a tradition for mother of the brides to wear frumpy dresses. And I have to be honest, the whole “mother of the brides dress should match the color of the wedding theme” gets to me. What a way to make your Mom get drowned out amongst the table linens! Keep in mind, pictures are being taken that will last a lifetime (if the marriage lasts) so you want to look fashionable and chic, not like a ball of yarn.
Mother of the brides, listen up. Yes, it’s your daughter’s day, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t look gorgeous too. Remember, you’re going to be seeing your 3rd cousin removed twice over and every other family member that you can barely name, so you want to look and feel your best. You don’t need to take on the grandmother role just yet!

Cachet’s Organza dress is perfect for a special occassion. One of the more beautiful dresses I have seen on a “MOB” was from the JS Collection. It was a three piece ensemble, both bride and mother were stunning that day. You can also never go wrong with Adrianna Papell or for a more formal look, Tadashi. So have fun, look your best, you deserve it too!
